Today is my mother's birthday. I asked her what dessert she wanted me to make and she did not hesitate to say that she wanted a Lemon Pie.
Now, this is not the first lemon pie that I bake for my mother as she always chooses this over anything else. However, this time, I have decided to make it from scratch. Yes, I admit I have always bought the mix and made it on a pre-made pie crust. The Swiss meringue was a bit tricky to make but it turned out perfectly!
Apparently this is the best pie that my family has ever eaten. I, however, don't like lemon pie at all so I had a sliver but couldn't handle the lemon. Too much lemon kills me The shortbread crust was awesome though!
Also, I don't understand how to work this camera at all, lol. Sorry for the pictures lately
There's not much to say for me though. This pie looks absolutely divine! There is nothing more that I love about my desserts is that it should be sour and sweet. Not too sweet that I'de die of diabetes
Vision: I love how it looks. The meringue looks nice. Slightly browned and I feel it's fluffy too..
Originality: Simply put it as key lime pie. But pretty much that's it. I just love lemons more than lime. I want the zesty approach of the lemon than the sourness of the lime.
Technique: I've seen one and seen it all but relatively looks clean. It's not as messy as how I would look at tarts or pies. I made pies that doesn't looked this nice at all. This one really kicks it
Impact: Sooo craving for that particular pie now. Zesty lemon sourness and the sweetness from the meringue's. I think any meringue would work on this pie as long as it's pipe-able.
I love your pie and how it looks like so generally I'd give out a full 5 for these kinds of stuff but you missed out .5 on me for originality since I've seen a similar pie that's sold here in my country but it's baby limes or calamansi I think? Forgot the english term for calamansi.
Keep cooking, keep doing what your doing and always present with passion!
This is one of my favourite pies! I usually do it for my b-day, it's so yummy and honestly it's easy enough for a delicious result ! I do find too much lemon overkill too, so I usually just put an "hint" of it. ~Sil
