I made this pie today because it is my brother's birthday tomorrow and he isn't really a cake kind of guy.

I must admit that I conquered yet another fear of mine, baking a pie from scratch! :iconrlytearplz: It wasn't really as hard as I imagined it would be. I even felt confident enough to experiment and make changes to the original filling recipe.

This is a very French Canadian type of pie it is made with maple syrup and fresh local raspberries. I hope it will be good!

First, let me begin by telling you that this cake looks absolutely delicious and I would eat it all before you even have time to take out the plates! The crust is perfectly golden and the filling looks so moist and tender.

Now since you requested critique, I do think that it could have used some more raspberries. They look scarce and oddly distributed, when I eat a raspberry pie I expect to get one with each bite but there's not enough raspberries in this pie. Still, I'm sure that the filling is delicious and makes up for it!

I like the lighting, it's warm and the low angle somehow makes me feel like it's getting late and chilly but I'm about to eat this delicious pie with a hot drink. It's a nice feeling that you managed to capture with your photo. However, the cropping is a bit weird, it keeps bugging me that the left side of the pie is cropped but the right side was left intact. However I love how bright the raspberries look, they really stand out!

I also read the recipe in your blog and it looks fantastic, very simple but rich ingredients. I'm sure it was delicious, congratulations to your brother!
