Interview with Nilanja
How did you first get into photography?
I have been around deviantArt for quite some time but mainly drew, except a few (really bad) self portraits. Then I found some really great photos and wanted to take some myself - of course I couldn't with a point-and-shoot-camera but I still tried. I wanted a reflex camera so bad but I waited a few months until I was sure that I would take photography serious because such a camera isn't the cheapest thing. At christmas 2011 I finally got one! And so I started shooting...
Please tell us about the photography equipment that you use
for most shoots.
I have got a Canon EOS 600D and always use a 50mm 1.4 lens. Besides I also use a tripod (I just got a new one - a Cullmann NANOMAX 260 CB6.3) and a remote release.
Your conceptual photography is like nothing I’ve ever seen
before. How do you come up with such original ideas?
Oh wow, thank you so much
Well, I often want to execute a certain feeling, or I just have a picture in my mind which I want to realise. I get inspired by a lot of things, for example by other photos, by things I see when I walk around, by quotes and so on. Actually you can get inspired by everything
As of now, you’ve reached the letter “U” in your
alphabet Project; do you plan on starting with another theme project
once this is one over?
Seriously, I have no idea^^ I want to finish my A is for Alphabet Project so badly but the last weeks I just haven't had the time to. I was thinking about a collaboration with another photographer but this is just an idea at the moment.
reveals that you’re an artist of many talents. From photography to artisan
crafts to drawing, is there any medium that you would love to try but haven’t
Uhm yeah, I actually want to get into digital art! I got a wacom for my birthday but I haven't used it much yet. This will definitley change! Digital art offers you so many great ways to create - I can't wait to get better at it!
What is your ultimate dream project?
Can I get another question? xD I have no idea...
Hm...it is always nice to meet other artists, so maybe my dream project is to meet up with as many artist as I can and take photos and draw together
But maybe it is also a big project to never give up art. I want to draw, take photos, do crafts until my end has come. To be honest, art is probably the best thing that ever happened to me!
